Recap: 49th IHGF Delhi Fair – Virtual 2020
The mid-July week of 2020 set a new order for sourcing in the COVID era. The IHGF Delhi Fair was originally slated to be held in April 2020 before being postponed and finally held from July 13-19 virtually, due to the pandemic. Nearly 1,300 participants exhibiting in 25 virtual halls in 12 broad categories were visited by over 4000 buyers from across the globe. The virtual platform was replete with a wide variety and new innovations in the following categories: Gifts, Decorative, Furniture & accessories, Houseware & Utility, Lamps & Lighting, Christmas & Festive Décor, Carpets, Rugs & Floor Accessories, Garden & Outdoor, Handmade Paper Products and Stationery, Candles, Incense & Potpourri, Leather Bags & Cases, Fashion Jewellery & Accessories and plenty of Sustainable & responsibly manufactured products – plus new this year: artistically crafted face masks and face covering accessories.
For the organizers, EPCH, using the virtual route was a leap of faith for its patrons. This unprecedented move of harnessing technology and taking up the mammoth task of connecting grass root artisans with exporters and further with buyers to present their wares, has earned much acclaim with the grand success of the week long show.
